What exactly does Captive Coalition do that I can't do on my own or get somewhere else?

Most captive programs treat agents like order takers. You bring the account, hand over the documents, and then step aside while the captive manager runs the show. They don't want you too involved. They don't want you to be too educated. They want a warm body who can find clients and stay out of the way.

That model works fine for the captive manager. It's terrible for you.

What we do differently starts with how we see you. You are not a lead generator. You are the quarterback. Your client came to you because of a relationship built on trust, and that relationship doesn't change because a captive is involved. It should get stronger because of it. Our job is to make sure that's what happens.

That means we're with you at every step, not just when you hand us a submission. When you're trying to figure out whether an account is worth pursuing, call us. We'll tell you what we think before you've asked your client for anything. When you're in front of a client, and the conversation gets hard, we'll get on the call with you. When a prospect isn't quite ready but is interested, we'll get on a call with them directly, tell them what they need to do to get there, and hand them back to you on a path forward. You stay the agent. We stay your support.

We also invest in making you better at this, not dependent on us. The training, the resources, the tools you can put your own logo on—all of it is designed so you can have these conversations more confidently over time. Because an agent who understands captives is one whose clients trust more. That's good for everyone.

And underneath all of it are five rules that protect your position structurally. Not as a handshake. Not as a policy buried in fine print. As the operating principles of how this program runs. Your client is never at risk of being contacted directly. There's no internal producer waiting to write them at renewal. No BOR gets processed without your knowledge. The relationship you built is the relationship that stays.

You can find other captive programs. Some of them are fine. But if you want a partner who actually understands what it means to be an independent agent, who built the whole thing specifically to protect that role, and who will be on the phone with you when you need them rather than when it's convenient for them, that's what we're here for.

It's always your client. Never ours.

His mission is to ensure agents stay in control, keep their best clients, and confidently lead with captives. Warren Cleveland, ACI, CIC, AAI
