I Spent Months Working a Submission and Found Out the Client Wasn't Even a Fit. How Do I Stop That From Happening Again.

I've been there. And it's one of the most frustrating things that happens in this business. You do the work. You have the conversations. You ask for the documents. You invest months of time and credibility into a deal. And then somewhere near the end you find out the account was never going to work in the first place.

That's not bad luck. That's a broken process. And the rest of the captive industry built it that way.

Most captive managers want a full submission before they'll tell you anything. Spreadsheets, loss runs, five years of data. You have to go back to your client or prospect, ask for documents that immediately signal something is happening, and then wait to find out if what you have is even worth pursuing. And if the answer is no, you've already spent the time, already created the awkwardness with your client, and you've got nothing to show for it.

That's why the first step in our process is a call with us before you ask your client for anything.

Here's how it actually works. You bring us what you know. A rough picture of the premium, a general sense of the business, and what the losses look like from a distance. We can tell you quickly whether this is worth going further. Not maybe. Not let's see the full submission. A real answer based on real criteria so you're not wasting months on something that was never going to land.

And here's the part that matters most. Even if the answer today is not yet, that doesn't mean the conversation with your client is over. We want the submission anyway. Not to waste your time, but because we're always building toward the right next group of members. Your client today might not be a fit right now, but in six months, the picture could be different. And when that changes, you're already in the conversation. You're already the agent who brought the idea. Nobody else gets that seat.

This is about keeping you in control of your best clients and finding more like them. The last thing we want is for you to get bird-dogged by another agent who brings captives up first because you were still waiting to see if the numbers worked.

Come to us early. Use our tools before you ask for documents. Let us tell you what you have before you go back to your client for anything.

That's how you stop wasting months on accounts that were never going to fit.

It's always your client. Never ours.
